SONASEARCH
Kodak Lost Film™
|
In 1991, Kodak engaged
Sonasearch to develop what became their very successful Lost Film
system to track film development transactions, flag unclaimed pictures, provide
customer notification and recover the revenue previously lost. The problem was that sometimes people would forget to pick up the film they has dropped off for development and photo printing at the various Kodak participating retailers. Although the percentage of forgetful customers was relatively small, the sheer volume of photo development customers transformed a small percentage into a big problem. After all, if 5% of 100 customers forget to pick up their film, that's one thing but if 5% of 10,000,000 customers are forgetful, the issue takes on a whole new complexion! The issue was greatly compounded by the fact that the customer paid for their photo finishing at the time they picked up the prints. Those prints unclaimed represented not only a complete revenue loss but a substantial uncompensated cost in labor, materials and shipping, as well. In addition to designing and developing the database driven Lost Film software, Sonasearch designed & installed the computer system hardware & network, proving Kodak with a mission-critical, turn-key solution that ran 24*7 for over a decade with over 99.5% uptime. |
